How will society view me once I get this tattoo? Will doors close for me when I begin looking for jobs once out of law school? Any advice is welcome...
Thnks guys and I apologize if it was a stupid question. Many people have told me that people wont hire me if I have any tattoos regardless of whether or not they're visible, so i had to ask the people that already have them.
Got to be careful (at least in the US). Many Fortune 500 employers have added both a strip search and a cavity search to the last segment of the hiring process. A tattoo could spell the end to your future career.

LOL at Reggie and Dave. Lupe, I'm not telling you that you are or are not ready for such a tattoo, but it sounds like you might not yet be ready to commit to that tattoo so you might want to delay getting it until you've sorted through your concerns (esp. if it's a large back piece and your first tattoo). Depending on where you practice law and the size of the local bar/legal community), eventually you may become known in some circles as "the attorney with the huge reaper tattoo on his back" (but you'll already be employed by then). How would they know? B/c people might see you at the gym, at the pool, etc. (if you never go anywhere like that then I guess it's not an issue b/c if nobody knows then how can they formulate any opinions about it). In short, it probably wont' limit your opportunities to find initial employment, but it will likely affect the way you are perceived by others down the road (more so in a small town as opposed to NYC or LA). While the reaper may have meaning for you, the reality is that if you're getting a huge back piece (maybe you're not), unless explained, many people will create their own impressions about what it means, what type of person you are, etc. I'm not saying that's right, it's just reality. Good luck with your decision
Maybe this is something you should really think about if you worried what people will think. And also try keeping your shirt on in court. That always works for me!
Im not at all worried of what people will think because I know it comes with the territory. LOL... I'll try to keep my shirt on in court, but what if she's a hot justice.
So you all have tattoos and own businesses? Have you ever personally experienced discrimination against people without tattoos? Just curious I'm trying to do a sociological study on tattoos and body modifications. Honestly the idea of reverse discri…
