When do you become "heavily tattooed"?

Personally, I felt I became "heavily tattooed" with my 3rd piece. Not because it was especially large, but because it was on my forearm and was visible to the world every time I left the house unle... Continue

LA Ink Thoughts

It seemed a bit heavy on the "Grrr! I'm a girl!" stuff (especially when she dealt with her construction guy) and it's definitely got the lame scripting going on (reality what?). The Chicago gals se... Continue

Partners of the Tattooed: What's their take?

My wife and I have been together since we were both bare-skinned. We went through kind of "arms race" period during which we couldn't get ink without the other also getting something, but now she'... Continue

Greenman Status

The greenman on my left upper arm is about 80% done.

Greenman: A bit closer

Pardon the blurry phonecam mirrorshot, but if you look closely you can see the awesome color blend from greens/yellows to olive/brown to orange to red. It blows me away every time I study…

Greenman Day Two Countdown

I finally get to go back in for the shading on my greenman this Saturday.

Very excited, even if I'm not really looking forward to jumping right into shading with no outline time to set the tone, as it were. Those big needle groups don't feel so hot on unsuspecting, whole flesh. ;^)

Unrelated: I wonder how many Rockies tattoos Denver area artists will be cranking out this year.

And another… Continue

Greenman: Day One Is Outline Day!

So, yeah... My new greenman is FRIGGIN' HUGE and EFFIN' AWESOME!

Greenman Outline (Cropped) So huge and so awesome that we only managed to get the line work done in the first four hour sitting. Lots o' lines in this puppy! I was a bit surprised, actually, b

One. More. Day.

Tomorrow, I get to spend 4 hours or so with one of my favorite people in the world (Fish at Th'Ink Tank in Denver) while he etches a Green Man on my left upper arm.

Yay!

I imagine I'll be posting pictures of the process to my Flickr page as it happens.

[Side note: What's with holding up tattoo shop… Continue

Thanks, Dana.
I only assign sort of a loose meaning to the greenman: To me it's a "protective spirit" and harkens back to my supposed Celtic heritage.
Mostly it's just a motif I've always loved.

Here's some info from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_man):
Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance", representing the cycle of growth being reborn anew each spring. Some speculate that the mythology of the Green Man developed independently in the traditions of separate ancient cultures and evolved into the wide variety of examples found throughout history.

I like the way your greenman is coming along! I've seen greenman tattoos a few times and was wondering if there was a meaning attached to it. Is there?

Not looking for a cover-up. Just hoping the existing design can be incorporated into the green man piece.

The Green Man idea is a classic and could work well as a cover up. Th'ink Tank is a great studio so they have the skills to do it. Good luck!

Your comment on the death of Ladies Night is hysterical. I was just reading about the law involved the suits this morning. The end of an era for drunken sorority girls.
