Okay...so, in summary

Tattoos suck and we are losers.
40% or more of us have them.
Celebs make lousy tattoo choices (duh!)
Change is the only thing that's permanent (double duh!!)
The economy sucks (Because we're tattooed this is somehow our fault??)
He has been a sheep most of his life
and, once more, in case you didn't get it.......tattoos suck.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah........like Amy said.....whatever.

Yeah all I really read was "blah blah blah....I have a closed mind....blah blah blah" He was probably dumped by some hot tattooed chick and is out to get them all now. Whatev - we know we rock! I love my tattoos and I'm the only one that has to love them. I'm offended by morbidly obese people, but I don't go telling them to lose weight becuase I don't like it. It's not up to me to change them!

I tell them to lose weight because their future health issues will cost society as a whole more in the long run.

Can I share, just for a moment, Ok

There are times that I agree with Mr. Cohen. I know I know I try to kill the inner ultra conservative in me but it refuses to die. Especially when I see young kids with heavy coverage.

My wife says I need to stop wanting the tattoo coolness to be mine, but it never fails when I go to a music festival I go away thinking I'm going to laser this off so I won't be associated with these clowns with bad ink.

Or maybe when I see heavily tattooed punk rockers on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena begging for change.

Ok I got that out, back to the regularly scheduled program.

Yea I hate this article also, Richard Cohen needs to wake up.

Good lord. What a closed-minded nitwit. You have to wonder how many tattooed people he's actually _talked_ to -- he comes across as someone who saw a few tattoos on ESPN and went, "wow, look at all that ink!" -- went home and Googled "celebrity tattoo pics" -- and then sat down and wrote the article.

There are as many styles of tattoos, and reasons for getting them (and reasons for not getting them) as there are people. So typical of an op-ed columnist to assume that everything is easily explained away in 900 words.

Sounds like Mr. Cohen always wanted a tattoo but was too afraid of the stigma he now helps to perpetuate with drivel such as that opinion piece.

He makes some good points, especially about heavily covered kids. However, it's all really just his opinion. That's been his experience. Mine has been different. Live and let live. I'm pretty heavily covered, and I seem to do okay.
